WHAT IS LUCHAE?

Luchae is a specialized fine art reproduction medium designed so artwork can be illuminated from behind while also remaining visually appealing under normal room lighting.

Unlike simply placing a conventional photograph in front of a light source, the Luchae process combines a specially prepared image with a purpose-designed illumination system.

The result is artwork in which light becomes part of the viewing experience.

When illuminated, colors, highlights and details within the photograph can take on remarkable depth and presence. When the illumination is reduced or turned off, the artwork can still be enjoyed as fine art within the room.

This ability to experience the image under different lighting conditions is one of the qualities that makes Luchae particularly interesting for fine art photography.

As photographers, we spend an enormous amount of time watching light.
