Mid-September offers the possibility of changing foliage, cool mornings and autumn wildlife activity. Early and late light can help separate an animal from its surroundings, while mountains, rivers and forests offer strong landscape compositions. Color and animal behavior vary each year; peak foliage and specific encounters are never guaranteed. Learn more about fall in the Tetons from the National Park Service.
Moose, elk, bison, raptors and bears where responsibly encountered are potential wildlife subjects. The Teton Range, Snake River scenery, reflective water, historic structures and autumn vegetation provide complementary landscape work. Instruction covers composition, exposure, depth of field, autofocus, shutter speed, tripod technique and long-lens photography.
With a maximum of six photographers, Neal Nachman and Liz Stokes are developing a personal experience with time to refine compositions, observe wildlife and ask questions. Four sunrise and four sunset sessions are planned, with midday breaks for rest, image downloads and feedback. The final operating arrangements remain in development.
September 15–19, 2027 — subject to change. Named locations are possible photographic stops. Daily routes follow light, weather, wildlife activity, appropriate access and group needs.
Arrival and afternoon: Fly into Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) within the final designated arrival window. The planned group transfer takes you to our Jackson / Grand Teton base. Check in for four nights, meet Neal and Liz, and review equipment, camera settings, wildlife ethics and the weather outlook.
Late afternoon and sunset: Begin with a scenic session at Snake River Overlook, a suitable valley viewpoint or another approved location. Explore foreground placement, mountain layers and exposure as the light changes. The first outing depends on arrival times and conditions.
Evening: Planned welcome dinner, questions and preparation for the first sunrise. Overnight: Night 1 of 4. Lunch on your own; welcome dinner planned as included.
Predawn and sunrise: Mormon Row and the historic Moulton barns are possible subjects for mountain compositions and first light. Practice perspective, foreground choice and depth of field. An alternative viewpoint may be chosen if conditions favor it.
Morning: Explore accessible valley habitat, potentially around Antelope Flats or the Gros Ventre area, for wildlife and environmental portraits. Work on autofocus, shutter speed and long-lens technique when moose, elk, bison or other animals are responsibly encountered.
Midday: Break for food, rest, image downloads and an optional discussion of the morning's photographs. Late afternoon and sunset: Follow current wildlife activity, then choose a landscape setting for evening light.
Overnight: Night 2 of 4. Breakfast only if supplied by the selected hotel; lunch and dinner on your own.
Predawn and sunrise: Oxbow Bend offers a possible setting for Mount Moran, riverside vegetation and reflections. Practice simplifying compositions and balancing exposure. Calm water, visible mountains and fall color depend on conditions.
Morning: Follow an efficient route toward Jackson Lake viewpoints and appropriate public overlooks. Explore mountain details, water patterns and wildlife opportunities along the way, respecting designated viewing areas and closures.
Midday: Take a substantial meal and rest break, with equipment care and image discussion as practical. Late afternoon and sunset: Reassess the strongest landscape or wildlife opportunity and work with changing light, layered scenery or reflections.
Overnight: Night 3 of 4. Breakfast only if supplied by the hotel; lunch and dinner on your own.
Predawn and sunrise: Schwabacher Landing is a possible setting for mountain reflections, riverside foregrounds and dawn light. Work on viewpoint selection and depth of field, using an alternative if access, weather or water conditions make it more productive.
Morning: Use the week's observations to revisit a productive wildlife area, refine a composition or pursue a landscape opportunity that earlier conditions did not support. This is the primary flexible day.
Midday: Rest and join an image-review or editing discussion covering composition, exposure and focus. A laptop is optional. Late afternoon and sunset: Finish with a substantial golden-hour outing selected around current conditions and participant interests.
Evening: Planned farewell dinner and a review of checkout and airport arrangements. Overnight: Night 4 of 4. Farewell dinner planned as included; breakfast only if supplied by the hotel; lunch on your own.
Predawn and sunrise: Make a final outing compatible with checkout and transfers, potentially revisiting Mormon Row, Schwabacher Landing, Snake River Overlook or another approved location. Apply the week's lessons with individual feedback.
Morning: Return for breakfast as available, packing, checkout and a closing discussion. There is no full additional afternoon excursion on departure day.
Departure: Planned group transfers return guests to JAC within the final designated window. Afternoon flights are the preferred planning pattern. Confirm acceptable flight times with Artistic Creationz before buying tickets. No overnight stay after checkout is included; breakfast is included only if supplied by the hotel.
Schedule note: Four nights span September 15–18, with checkout September 19. Sunset sessions fall on Days 1–4 and sunrise sessions on Days 2–5. Sessions may be rearranged, substituted or shortened as conditions require.
$5,995 per photographer — Double occupancy: Two photographers sharing one room for four nights.
$6,995 per photographer — Single occupancy: One photographer in a private room for four nights. The $1,000 supplement applies to the entire stay, not each night.
Rates are per photographer in USD. Hotel selection, room configurations and availability will be confirmed before booking. Roommate matching is not guaranteed; sharing arrangements must be settled before a double-occupancy reservation is accepted.
We plan one base hotel in the Jackson / Grand Teton area for all four nights. Scheduled group ground transportation and JAC airport transfers within designated windows are planned as included. The hotel, vehicles, luggage limits and transfer windows are being finalized.
Airfare; meals not specifically included (including lunches and dinners on Days 2 and 3); alcohol; personal purchases; travel insurance; camera equipment or rental; editing software; pre-tour or post-tour nights; independent or out-of-window transfers; and activities outside the itinerary.
These are planned package inclusions. Final hotel, transportation, meal arrangements and booking terms will be published before reservations open.
Plan to fly into Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), Jackson, Wyoming. Earlier arrivals on September 15 and afternoon departures on September 19 are the preferred planning pattern. Wait for the final flight windows and transfer instructions before purchasing airfare. Extra nights and transfers outside the designated group windows are separate expenses.
Committed beginners, intermediate photographers and advanced photographers can express interest. Participants should be able to operate their own camera and carry the equipment needed for the final itinerary. Field guidance will address composition, exposure and technique, with time for individual questions. Tell us about your experience and walking considerations; exact terrain, distances, pace and accessibility will be described before reservations open.
A telephoto lens for wildlife and a standard or wide-angle zoom for landscapes are useful starting points. Bring a stable tripod, weather protection, warm layers and comfortable footwear. The final itinerary will specify the walking requirements and any equipment limits. Binoculars can support observation without continually lifting a camera.
Wildlife sightings and behaviors cannot be guaranteed. We will not feed, bait, crowd or disturb animals. Current park guidance requires at least 100 yards from bears and wolves and 25 yards from other wildlife; maintain more distance whenever needed to avoid disturbing animals and follow ranger directions. Weather, wildlife activity, foliage, road and trail conditions, parking, access, wildfire or smoke and group safety may change the route. Peak color, calm reflections, clear mountain views and particular viewpoints are not guaranteed. Landscape sessions and image discussions provide alternatives.
The hotel, vehicles, transfer windows, meal arrangements, exact locations and backups, required commercial authorizations and final booking terms remain in development. Tentative dates are September 15–19, 2027. Paid reservations are not open.
